Djouce report
This Sunday's Djouce event attracted 127 competitors across 3 courses. The Long course made good use of the area. A network of roads to control no. 5 managed to throw some people who had trouble counting paths. The string course for the kiddies was won by David Healy with Christian Foley fisher in a close 2nd place. Christian redeemed himself on the adult course however, beating runner-up Ruairi Short by nearly 4 minutes.
There were a few issues on the day. The crisp but dry weather attracted an unexpected people out onto the short course so we found ourselves short of maps. The Lawless children managed to escape their parents in the forest and were found by Eoin Dunne who brought them back to registration. SI box number 171 found itself the victim of Jim's haunted van once the van was powered up and this introduced some technical glitches into the results with some people apparently taking several weeks to complete the course. Fortunately Martin Flynn was on hand to correct the issues and make sure that the results were still on the web in close to record time. Our brand new club printer was also a victim of the haunted van, meaning no printed split times for later competitors and a return trip to PC world with the printer that evening.
Tea, coffee and other refreshments were provided for those who showed up.
